The long awaited sequel is here! The story of Hei and Yin continue in Darker Than Black: Gemini of the Meteor! Terrell and I have been waiting for the continuing series for awhile now and when we heard it was finally coming we couldn’t believe it. The first episode was released already and I caught it on AnimeShippuuden just today. If you don’t remember the story from Darker Than Black, I included a re-cap at the bottom of this post.

This time the story takes place mainly in Russia, Hei and Yin have been on the move ever since they betrayed the syndicate. While in Russia Hei comes in contact with a young girl, Suou, who becomes trapped in the war that rages on between humans and Contractors. Misaki resigns from the Foreign Affairs in Japan to continue her investigations on Hei…

It hasn’t been made clear exactly what the plot of the story is just yet, but like the first season, we probably won’t know that until farther into the story…like ten episodes farther. Hei is still as intense as ever and I don’t think the battles and story will let us down any, I get the feeling this season is going to be a great one! I’m going to hope its longer than the anticipated sixteen episodes.

Darker Than Black: The Black Contractor

Ten years ago an anomaly appeared in Tokyo that became known as Hell’s Gate. The stars were replaced with fake ones and each fake star represented a being known as a Contractor; a human who had given up his humanity in return for a special power. That being’s star vibrates when his power is used and he must complete a remuneration or payment for using that power (such as breaking fingers, smoking or drinking alcohol). These Contractors are used as spies and assassins by many agencies due to their ability to kill in cold blood without hesitation and their lack of emotions.
